How Senticient handles feedback data, consent, and student privacy.

Respondent confidentiality

Senticient exists to move honest feedback to the person who can act on it. Responses are delivered to the group's administrator as feedback — the instructor, care team, or account lead who ran the session — and nobody is left guessing about where their answers go.

Respondents are told exactly who sees what before their first survey. The welcome text explains the program and links to a privacy explainer, so consent is informed rather than assumed. Contact information is used only to send these surveys. We never sell contact information, and we never share it for marketing.

FERPA compliance options

For education customers, Senticient offers data-handling and access-control options aligned with FERPA obligations, so a school can adopt the feedback loop without stepping outside the rules that govern student records.

Access is role-based: administrators see only their own groups, never another department's. Sensitive administrative actions are recorded in an audit log, so there is a clear trail of who changed what and when. And data can be deleted on request — when a program ends or an institution asks, the associated feedback and contact details can be removed. The goal is straightforward: give education teams the controls they need to answer to their own compliance office.

SMS consent (TCPA)

Text messaging only works when people have agreed to receive it, so Senticient is built around TCPA-compliant opt-in and opt-out from the first message. Before anyone receives a survey, they get an enrollment notice that explains the program and what to expect.

Every message carries a clear way out — “Reply STOP to opt out” — and an opt-out is honored immediately. Once someone opts out, the choice is respected at every send that follows; they will not be texted again unless they choose to opt back in. Consent is not a one-time checkbox but a standing preference the system enforces on each and every survey.

Data protection

Feedback data is encrypted in transit and at rest, so it is protected both as it moves and where it lives. Inside the database, row-level tenant isolation scopes every query to the requesting organization — one customer's data is never visible to another, enforced at the data layer rather than left to application code alone.

Service access follows the principle of least privilege: each part of the system can reach only the data it needs to do its job. And because respondents never create accounts, survey links are signed and expiring rather than password-protected — a link grants access to one survey, cannot be guessed, and expires with the survey window.
